Here is a way to add some beautiful color to your flock. Our Swedish Flower Hens have some of the most beautiful array of colors. We culled our selection down to the best colors and characteristics to bring to you Swedish Flower Hens that display both crested and non-crested while providing the array of beautiful flowery spots.

The Swedish Flower Hen - called the "Flower Hen" because of the flowerly spots across the feathers. They are the largest of the Swedish breeds and from the southernmost province of Sweden, Scania (pronounced Skane in Swedish). The Swedish Flower Rooster has a few spots - but is more brown at the head transitioning down to a darker reddish brown color. The chicks from this flock will be crested (fluff on the top of the head) or uncrested (regular comb).

The Swedish Flower Hen is a vary clam natured unagressive bird that has an average weight between 5 and 8 1/2 pounds. The hen will lay between 150-200 brown eggs per year.

This breed was on the verge of becoming extinct, however small flocks of these birds were located in Sweden and preserved. Since the importation of the birds to the U.S. - these birds have become in demand and the number of these birds existing today have soared. These birds are the most active birds in our pens and always seem to be chasing insects or simply chasing one another. The Swedish Flower Hen (and rooster) provide hours of entertainment by just relaxing in the swing by the coop and watching them play.

While we typically have on hand higher priced imported birds - however when compared to other breeds - $ 13 per chick on a rare breed imported bird is an unheard of price.
